Allied Invests in Associates' Health with Opening of Wellness Center

Dover, OH – Allied Machine & Engineering has taken another major step by continuing to invest in the health care of its associates and their families. Allied is partnering with
Union Hospital and
Union Physician Services in an effort to provide quality healthcare at a minimal cost for its entire staff. Together, they recently opened the “Allied Family Wellness Center,” which is housed in the UPS Family Health Center North medical building in Dover.
This full-functioning, health provider’s office is open 42 hours a week and provides care for Allied associates and eligible family members with a healthcare team employed by Union Hospital through its physician network, Union Physician Services (UPS). The Allied Family Wellness Center is staffed by Dr. Christopher Coulson, D.O., Amanda Scott, a Certified Nurse Practitioner, and Dan Sloat, a Wellness Coordinator. Mr. Sloat will assist with follow-up care, exercise/diet programs and education. Allied associates have been given complete information about the range of services available – many of which will have no out-of-pocket cost to the patient. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins will also be accepted.
“We know there are many fine medical staffs throughout our community, and we support our associates’ continued care with those providers,” said Bill Stokey, President and CEO of Allied Machine & Engineering. “However, we also understand that more than 40 percent of our associates do not have a primary care physician. That is a problem we wanted to help correct by offering them high-quality healthcare services with a convenient location and office hours.”
Many of the services provided at the Wellness Center are free of charge such as physicals, well-child checkups, chronic disease management and preventative care. Acute visits require a charge but Allied believes this charge to be quite affordable.
Bruce James, President and CEO of Union Hospital stated, “as the needs and services available for patients and the community continue to evolve, the hospital is working to meet the varying needs that arise. Allied is the third employer in the area that the hospital and UPS is working with directly to meet their individual needs.”

The Wellness Center will reduce patient wait times and provide adequate appointment and exam time for patients and providers. Allied also credits Rick Pipes of Pipes Insurance Services at New Philadelphia with promoting the concept of an “Allied Clinic” to the administrative team at Allied after assisting another client with opening its own wellness clinic.

Offering us space in their brand-new UPS Family Health Center North facility was a bonus.”
The long-term benefits for Allied’s associates through opening the Wellness Center are clear. “While there is a significant investment that Allied is making to offer the Wellness Center, we are confident there will be an even greater return on investment,” said Bill Stokey. “Yes, we believe there can be savings on the cost of the actual care, but the real savings comes with the intangibles. How many serious illnesses might we avoid because our Allied family is receiving preventative care? Preventing diabetes or catching a cancer early will not only save money, but more importantly, may save lives.
